TAM Brazilian Airlines, operating under IATA code JJ, was one of Brazil's largest and most prominent commercial carriers. Founded in 1961, the airline grew from a regional taxi air service into a major international carrier connecting Brazil with destinations across South America, North America, Europe, and beyond.
In 2012, TAM merged with LAN Airlines of Chile to form LATAM Airlines Group, one of the largest airline groups in Latin America. The combined entity rebranded progressively, with TAM's operations eventually folding into the LATAM brand by 2016.
During its peak, TAM was known for its strong domestic network within Brazil and was a member of the Star Alliance before transitioning to oneworld following the LATAM merger. The airline played a pivotal role in modernizing Brazilian aviation and expanding international connectivity for Brazilian travelers.
