São Paulo/Guarulhos–Governor André Franco Montoro International Airport, commonly known as Guarulhos International Airport or GRU Airport, is the busiest airport in Brazil and one of the busiest in Latin America. It serves as the primary international gateway to São Paulo, Brazil's largest city and financial capital, handling tens of millions of passengers annually.
The airport is located approximately 25 kilometers northeast of São Paulo's city center in the municipality of Guarulhos, in the state of São Paulo. It opened in 1985 and has since expanded significantly to accommodate growing demand. It is named after André Franco Montoro, a former governor of São Paulo state.
GRU serves as the main hub for LATAM Airlines Brasil and is a major operating base for Gol Linhas Aéreas, with numerous international carriers also serving the airport. It handles the vast majority of international passenger traffic entering and leaving Brazil.
Terminals
The airport operates with three passenger terminals—Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3—connected by an airside people mover, collectively offering extensive domestic and international gate capacity.
Getting to & from
Ground transport options include the Airport Express Train (Linha 13-Jade) connecting to the Luz station via Engenheiro Goulart, as well as taxis, ride-hailing services, and bus shuttles to central São Paulo.
