Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport, coded OTP and ICAO LROP, is the primary international airport serving Romania's capital city. Located near the town of Otopeni, approximately 16.5 kilometres north of Bucharest's city centre, it is the largest and busiest airport in Romania by passenger traffic.
The airport is named after Romanian aviation pioneer Henri Coandă, inventor and engineer credited with early contributions to jet propulsion. It serves as the main hub for TAROM, Romania's national carrier, and handles tens of millions of passengers annually, connecting Bucharest to destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America.
The facility has undergone significant modernisation and expansion over the decades, with ongoing infrastructure investments aimed at increasing capacity and improving passenger experience. It is operated by the Compania Națională Aeroporturi București (CNAB).
Terminals
The airport operates two passenger terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, with Terminal 2 being the larger and newer facility handling the majority of international and domestic traffic.
Getting to & from
The airport is connected to central Bucharest via the Express Train (Henri Coandă Airport Rail Link) to Gara de Nord, as well as express bus services and taxis.
