Entebbe International Airport (EBB/HUEN) is Uganda's main international airport, located in the town of Entebbe on a peninsula jutting into Lake Victoria, approximately 40 kilometres south of the capital Kampala. It is the country's busiest and only major international airport, handling the vast majority of Uganda's air traffic.
The airport has undergone significant expansion and modernization in recent years, with Chinese-funded infrastructure upgrades improving its passenger capacity and facilities. It serves as the primary hub for Uganda Airlines, the national carrier relaunched in 2019.
Entebbe is historically notable as the site of the 1976 Operation Entebbe, a dramatic Israeli counter-terrorism hostage rescue mission following the hijacking of Air France Flight 139. The airport continues to grow in importance as Uganda develops its tourism and trade sectors.
