The Boeing 767 is a wide-body, twin-engine commercial jet airliner developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. It entered service in 1982 and was the first twin-engine widebody aircraft to receive ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards) approval, enabling long overwater routes with just two engines.
The 767 is offered in several variants, including the 767-200, 767-300, and 767-400ER, with the -300ER being the most popular. It features a wide two-aisle cabin typically configured with seven or eight seats across. The aircraft has also been widely adapted as a freighter, and serves as the basis for the U.S. Air Force KC-46 Pegasus aerial refueling tanker.
Despite being a mature design, the 767 remains in production primarily in freighter and tanker configurations. Its reliability, fuel efficiency relative to older four-engine aircraft, and versatility have made it a long-lasting platform in both commercial and military aviation.
Notable operators
Major operators have included United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, All Nippon Airways, FedEx, UPS, and El Al.
