Buyant-Ukhaa International Airport, also known as Chinggis Khaan International Airport, is the main international airport serving Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Coded ULN/ZMUB, it handles the vast majority of Mongolia's international air traffic and serves as the hub for MIAT Mongolian Airlines.
The airport is situated approximately 18 kilometers southwest of central Ulaanbaatar. It has faced capacity constraints over the years, which led Mongolia to develop a new international airport, Chinggis Khaan International Airport (NEW), at Khushigt Valley, intended to eventually replace Buyant-Ukhaa for most operations.
Despite its aging infrastructure, Buyant-Ukhaa has historically connected Mongolia to major Asian cities including Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, Moscow, and Frankfurt, playing a vital role in the country's connectivity to the rest of the world.
