Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport is the largest and busiest airport in Zimbabwe, serving as the main international gateway for the country's capital, Harare. It handles the majority of Zimbabwe's international passenger and cargo traffic and is a critical hub for the southern African region.
The airport was originally known as Salisbury Airport and later renamed Harare International Airport following Zimbabwe's independence. In 2017, it was renamed in honor of former President Robert Gabriel Mugabe. The airport has undergone various infrastructure improvement efforts to modernize its facilities and expand capacity.
The airport is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) and serves as the primary base for Air Zimbabwe, the national carrier.
