Lungi International Airport (IATA: FNA, ICAO: GFLL) is the principal international airport serving Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. It is operated by the Sierra Leone Airports Authority and handles the vast majority of the country's international air traffic.
The airport is situated in Lungi-Town on the north side of the Sierra Leone River estuary, directly across from Freetown. This geographic separation has long been a logistical challenge for passengers, who must cross the estuary by helicopter, hovercraft, speedboat, or take a lengthy road journey around the estuary to reach the city.
Efforts have been made over the years to improve access, including discussions about constructing a bridge or tunnel linking Lungi to Freetown. The airport underwent infrastructure improvements in the 2010s to expand capacity and upgrade facilities.
