It serves as the primary gateway to the Jalisco state capital and the broader western Mexico region.
The airport is the second busiest in Mexico by passenger traffic, handling over 15 million passengers annually in peak years. It operates as an important hub for both domestic and international routes, connecting Guadalajara to destinations across North America, Latin America, and beyond.
GDL serves as a major hub for Volaris and an important focus city for other Mexican carriers. The airport is operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), which manages several airports across Mexico's Pacific region.
