Daallo Airlines

Daallo Airlines is a Djibouti-based carrier that has operated regional and international routes across East Africa, the Horn of Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. Founded in the early 1990s, the airline has served as a vital link for passengers traveling to and from Somalia and other underserved markets in the region. The airline has faced significant operational challenges over the years, including the instability in Somalia, which has affected its network and scheduling. Despite these hurdles, Daallo has maintained a presence on key routes connecting Djibouti, Mogadishu, Hargeisa, and various other destinations. In February 2016, a Daallo Airlines flight from Mogadishu gained international attention after a small explosion occurred on board shortly after takeoff, suspected to be a bomb, which blew a hole in the fuselage. The flight landed safely with only the suspected bomber ejected from the aircraft. The incident highlighted the security challenges faced by airlines operating in the region.
