Navi Mumbai International Airport
Navi Mumbai International Airport (IATA: NMI, ICAO: VANM) is a major greenfield international airport under development at Ulwe in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, designed to relieve the heavily congested Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. The project is being developed by Navi Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd. (NMIAL), a joint venture between CIDCO and the Adani Group, across approximately 1,160 hectares on reclaimed land near Thane Creek. Once operational, it is expected to be one of India's largest airports, with a planned initial capacity of 20 million passengers per annum (MPPA) expandable to 90 MPPA in its ultimate phase.

Travel tips
- Use the Atal Setu (Mumbai Trans Harbour Link) for the fastest road connection between South Mumbai and the airport, significantly cutting travel time compared to older routes.
- Check real-time traffic conditions before departing, as Navi Mumbai roads can experience congestion during peak hours, especially near Vashi and Belapur.
- Once Metro connectivity is operational, it will be the most cost-effective and time-reliable option to reach the airport from central Navi Mumbai.
- Carry both cash and digital payment options; while the airport itself will be modern, surrounding area transport and facilities may vary.
- Plan extra time during Mumbai's monsoon season (June to September), as heavy rainfall can affect road travel times significantly.
- Keep updated on the airport's official opening timelines and airline announcements via the NMIAL website, as the project is still under development.
Development: Navi Mumbai International Airport is being developed in multiple phases, with Phase 1 targeting 20 MPPA capacity and subsequent phases expanding this to an ultimate capacity of 90 MPPA; the airport is also expected to anchor an integrated Airport Influence Zone (AIZ) with planned residential, commercial, and logistics development across thousands of hectares around the site.
