Traveler ratings — VNS
Flew out of Varanasi on an IndiGo flight to Delhi last month and the terminal felt a bit cramped during peak morning hours. The security check was reasonably organised but the food options are really disappointing — just one small café with stale sandwiches and overpriced chai. Definitely eat before you arrive if your flight is early.
I visit Varanasi every year for the ghats and this airport has genuinely improved over the last couple of years — the new terminal looks much cleaner and the washrooms were actually maintained well during my visit in October. Staff at the check-in counters were helpful and spoke politely, which is not always the case at smaller airports. Parking is a bit chaotic though, the drop-off zone gets congested very quickly in the evenings.
As an NRI coming in from Dubai, the arrival experience at VNS was honestly underwhelming — the baggage belt took almost 40 minutes and the free WiFi barely connected long enough to send a WhatsApp message to my family waiting outside. The drop-off and pickup area is a complete mess with no clear signage, and my uncle circled three times before finding us. Food stalls airside have improved slightly but nothing to write home about.
