Hostomel Airport, officially known as Antonov Airport, is a cargo and aviation test facility located in the town of Hostomel, approximately 25 kilometers northwest of central Kyiv, Ukraine. It served as the primary base for the Antonov Airlines cargo operations and was home to the world's largest aircraft, the Antonov An-225 Mriya.
The airport gained international attention in February 2022 when it became a focal point of intense fighting during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russian airborne forces attempted to seize the airfield in the early hours of the invasion. The An-225 Mriya was destroyed on the ground during subsequent battles at the facility.
Prior to the conflict, Hostomel primarily handled cargo flights and served as a base for aircraft testing and development by the Antonov design bureau. It did not operate scheduled commercial passenger services and had no IATA code assigned.
