Flew out from TRV to Dubai last month and was pleasantly surprised by how tidy the international terminal was — floors were clean and the washrooms were well-maintained compared to my previous visit two years ago. The ground staff were genuinely helpful when my boarding gate changed at the last minute. Wi-Fi connected easily but dropped off completely near the departure gates, which was frustrating when I was trying to send documents.
Drop-off area outside the international terminal is well-organised and our cab had no trouble getting close to the entrance — smooth start to the journey. Parking rates are reasonable and the multi-level structure is decent. My only real complaint is the food options landside and airside are both terrible; the Kerala meals counter had run out of items by 9 AM and I ended up with a stale sandwich from the only other open stall.
As an NRI flying back to the Gulf every few months, TRV is my home airport but the security queue management is genuinely chaotic — no clear lane separation and the staff seemed overwhelmed during the early morning Abu Dhabi flight rush. The toilets in the domestic section need urgent attention; two of the four stalls were out of order on a busy Saturday. The new seating in the departure lounge is a nice upgrade though, and the South Indian thali at the restaurant upstairs is still worth it if you have the time.
