George F. L. Charles Airport is a domestic and regional airport located in Vigie, just north of Castries, the capital of Saint Lucia. It serves as the island's city airport, offering convenient access to the capital compared to the larger Hewanorra International Airport in the south.
The airport handles primarily inter-island Caribbean flights and some charter operations, complementing Hewanorra which accommodates most long-haul international traffic. It is named after George F. L. Charles, a pioneering Saint Lucian trade union leader and politician.
Due to its short runway, George F. L. Charles Airport is limited to smaller turboprop and regional jet aircraft, making it unsuitable for wide-body or large narrow-body planes.
