Nellis Air Force Base is a major United States Air Force installation located approximately 8 miles northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. It serves as the home of the Air Force Warfare Center and is widely regarded as the premier tactical fighter training base in the world, hosting the famous Red Flag and Green Flag exercises. The base is home to the USAF Thunderbirds aerial demonstration team and hosts numerous advanced combat training programs. It also supports the Nevada Test and Training Range, one of the largest and most sophisticated air and ground ranges in the world. As a military installation, Nellis AFB is not open to commercial air traffic. Access is restricted to authorized military personnel, contractors, and invited guests.
