The base is home to the 6° Stormo (6th Wing) of the Italian Air Force, which operates Panavia Tornado IDS/IDT aircraft in the interdiction and strike role. Ghedi is one of Italy's NATO-designated dual-capable aircraft (DCA) bases, understood to be part of NATO's nuclear sharing arrangements under Article V commitments.
