Westover Metropolitan Airport, co-located with Westover Air Reserve Base, is a joint-use facility serving the Springfield and Chicopee area of western Massachusetts. The airport shares its runways and infrastructure with the 439th Airlift Wing of the United States Air Force Reserve Command, which operates C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft from the base.
The civilian side of the airport offers limited scheduled commercial service and serves as an alternative to Bradley International Airport to the south and Logan International Airport in Boston. Its long runways, originally built for military use, make it capable of handling large aircraft.
Westover ARB is one of the largest Air Force Reserve bases in the country by land area. The airport has historically attracted cargo and charter operations in addition to periodic commercial passenger service.
