Gateway to Venezuela's breathtaking Gran Sabana wilderness.
Location
Canaima, Venezuela
Canaima Airport (IATA: CAJ, ICAO: SVCN) is a small regional airport serving the village of Canaima in Bolívar State, Venezuela. It is the primary access point for Canaima National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its tepuis, lagoons, and Angel Falls—the world's highest uninterrupted waterfall.
The airport handles mostly charter and small scheduled flights, as Canaima has no road connections to the outside world and air travel is the only practical means of access. Traffic is predominantly tourism-oriented, with visitors arriving to explore the park's unique landscapes and indigenous Pemon communities.
Due to Venezuela's ongoing economic challenges, flight frequency and airline operations have fluctuated significantly over recent years, with service largely dependent on domestic carriers and tour operators.
Terminals
The airport features a single small terminal building suited to low-volume regional and charter traffic.
Getting to & from
As Canaima has no road access, ground transport within the village consists of local paths and boats on the lagoon, with no highway connections to the airport.
