The Embraer 175 (E175) is a twin-engine regional jet developed by Brazilian manufacturer Embraer as part of the E-Jets family, which also includes the E170, E190, and E195. It entered service in 2005 and is designed to serve short to medium-haul routes with greater efficiency than older regional jets of similar size. The E175 features a wide single-aisle cabin with a 2-2 seating configuration, eliminating the middle seat and providing a more comfortable passenger experience compared to many regional competitors. Its design balances operating economics with passenger comfort, making it popular with regional carriers operating as feeders for major network airlines. A modernized successor, the E175-E2, was developed as part of the second-generation E-Jets E2 family, though it has seen limited commercial uptake due in part to US scope clause restrictions that limit the weight of aircraft regional carriers can operate on behalf of major airlines.
